
(Telecompaper) Toshiba will launch a new Android tablet in the US on 06 March, which it claims is the world's thinnest and lightest tablet. The Excite 10 LE measures 0.3 inches (7.7mm) thin and weighs 1.18 pounds (535g). It will sell for a recommended retail price of USD 529.99 for the 16GB model and USD 599.99 for 32GB. The tablet features a 10.1-inch AutoBrite display with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, 1.2GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 multi-core processor and dual-channel memory, as well as a microSD slot for extra storage and connectivity over HDMI, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Audio is delivered over stereo speakers with sound enhancements by SRS Labs, and the tablet comes with a front 2 megapixel and back 5 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. Delivered with Android 3.2, the device will be upgraded to Android 4.0 later this spring. In addition to Google services, it comes loaded with Toshiba and third-party software, including the Toshiba App Place, Book Place, Media Player and File Manager as well Netflix and Zinio.
